How is Tympanoplasty and mastoidectomy Performed

Local infiltration is given . Postaural incision is given . Tympanomeatal flap is elevated . margins of perforation are freshened . Bone behind the ear is drilled to clear infection from mastoid air cells . Patency between antrum and middle ear is restored . Grannulation in middle ear are removed in critical areas using LASER. Graft is placed by underlay technique.Dressing applied.

Preparation for Tympanoplasty and mastoidectomy

Hair is shaved behind the ear. Patient should be empty stomach from 6 hrs before surgery. Aspirin should be stopped 4 days prior to surgery.
